我一生中,不沾烟酒,更不赌博,唯独和花卉结下了不解之缘。青少年时代,家住郊外,门前有块空地,哥和我在空地里种上大丽花、牵牛花、紫茉莉、夜来香……,每当月明之夜,做完功课后,兄弟姐妹常一道赏月、观花,倍感心旷神怡。工作后的几十年间,忙于教学,加之住房条件的限制,不可能种许多花,仅在卧室或办公室的窗台上种上2、3盆消遣,或是买上几株鲜花插在花瓶里美化居室。下乡工作时,遇到路边、田埂上的野花,也情不自禁蹲下来观赏。假日里陪爱人孩子去公园玩,看见树木,闻到花香,常引起我对老家那些花卉的怀念。退休之前几年,在考虑如何安排晚年生活时,决心再续花之缘,种花自乐。于是订了《花木盆景》、(中国花卉 My life, do not smoke tobacco, but not gambling, but only and flowers formed a bond.
