Today, the media is not only a tool for us to understand the world, but also a tool that we can not access the world by leaving it, that is, it is not the only but indispensable way for us to connect with the world. Therefore, in this sense It can be said that the media has become our body, our life, our new “ontology.” There is anecdotal evidence from a foreign country saying that a certain gentleman has to watch his event live and always carry his mini-TV with him because he needs help with “news media” to better understand what is going on at the scene. The story is funny, but its metaphorical truth makes us laugh. Is it possible for the media to be information, and what is external to the media should actually become or replace our true being. In July 2007, the authoritative academic journal “Theory, Culture and Society” of the United Kingdom jointly held a large-scale international symposium on “Ubiquitous Media” with the University of Tokyo. Dozens of scholars from China also participated. Two articles published here are the conference selected papers, published in “Theory, Culture and Society” 2007 7-8 periodicals. “The Ubiquitous Medium”, an article by Professor Featherstone, the main organizer of the conference, gave us some information about the conference on the one hand and, more importantly, on the other hand, it made us feel that media issues The urgency of academic and everyday life today. The article “New Media and Aesthetics” starts with the aesthetic test of technology by early Soviet artists and looks for “aesthetics” to be adopted today in the face of more influential media and new technologies. Although the two texts are short, but meaningful, it is worth considering.
