Good Morning， ladies and gentlemen！ Today I’d like to tell a story.
Eleven years ago， there was once a happy family in a village of Henan Province. But all of a sudden， it was completely changed because of their father’s special illness and loss of work， which caused their mother’s leaving without saying “Good-bye”. The eldest brother had no choice but to support the whole family with his tender little shoulder. He was then only 12 years old. Day after day， year after year， he was always playing a role of a father. And now he attends university with his little sister.
Yes. That’s a memorable scene in one of the TV programs， called “Moving China， Top Ten Persons in 2005”. And “He” I mentioned above refers to Hong Zhanhui， who ever said to his little sister， “The most horrible thing for you is the lackage of independence rather than wealth.”
To me， this program not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a timeless reminder that we should not give up on the half way.
Today， in this new century， we live in a world of prosperity. We are offered with better living facilities and more advanced education. As for me， walking around the beautiful campus talking with my friends is so attractive. We are also led to travel freely in the knowledge sea in our computerized classrooms. Meanwhile， parents just try their best to meet our demands. But on the other hand. Some guys are always complaining about their low intelligence and poor foundation. They ever claim that they are born lazy. Why？ Because they are lack of self-confidence and perseverance.
As the saying goes， “Everyone is the architect of his own fate.” He designs the building. The better the materials which are used， the longer it stands. With a firm foundation， he can have grand skyscraper. Our life should be prepared in the same way. If we make mistakes， if we are involved with discouragement， we should take on an active attitude. Laugh and the world laughs with you； Weep and you weep alone.
Once again， I have come to think of the elder brother Hong Zhanhui， because it’s with his spirit， passion， courage and strong sense of his family that encourage us to live better in this new era.
At the end of my speech， please let me quote Bob Dylan；
How many roads must a man walk down before you call him a man？
How many times must a man look up before he can see the sky？
How many years can a mountain exist before it’s washed to the sea？
The answer， is not in the wind—the answer is ours！
