The Pennsylvania Times of 1739 uncovered the environmental problems of DockCreek, a river that contaminated slaughterhouses and tanneries. ① Western mainstream media coverage of environmental issues began in the 1960s and 1970s. Richal Carson’s Silent Spring, together with Paul Ehrlich’s Population Bomb and Barry Commoner’s Terminator Cycle, are seen as symbols of the maturation of Western environmental news. From the 1970s to the 1980s, people in western countries gradually raised their awareness of environmental protection and environmental news entered a period of prosperity. In recent years, there have been some changes in the concerns of foreign environmental news reports. From the Copenhagen conference to the Rio summit, from the tsunami in India to the crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, the number of global environmental issues has increased, and the international nature of environmental news has become more pronounced.
