本文是从《文选》意图为后学提供范文这一点,借由四组被收录的文章,来具体说明:《文选》编撰者不仅逆料到后学的不同身份、所处场合、阅读对象、撰文目的等因素,而分别挑选与之呼应的菁英之作,并且逆料到不同作者的个性、美学品味、对同一刺激的反应等也必有差异,以致纵使在同一时间、地点、目的、阅读对象等状态下出现的两篇杰作,甚至连文章的题目都雷同,也会因此而都被选入。而由这点可进一步看出:以文学作品取舍尺度而言,《文选》着重的是表述手法、措辞、事例以及风格的变化,某组被兼收的两篇作品内容方面的异同倒在其次。
