Bulbophyllum Thouras (1822: tab.3), is one of the largest genera in Orchidaceae, consisting of 1867 species (Chase et al, 2015; Vermeulen et al, 2014). There are approximate 127 species in China (including Drymoda, Monomeria, Trias and Sunipia), of which 40 species are endemic to China(Chen & Vermeulen, 2009, Li et al, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015; Wei et al, 2010; Liu et al, 2015; Liu & Gao, 2016; Yu et al, 2015; Zhou & Jin, 2015).

Bulbophyllum pinicola (Fig. 1)
Epiphytic. Rhizome creeping, ca. 2 mm in diam.; pseudobulbs 1.0-1.5 cm apart from each other along the rhizome, subglobular, 1.0-1.2 cm, apex with one leaf. Leaf blade suboblong, 2.7-3.5 by 1.0-1.1 cm, 1veined, vein concave adaxially, abaxialy convex, apex unequally bilobed, lobiis rounded, base contracted into petiole, petiole ca. 3 mm long. Scape lateral from the base of pseudobulb, 10-11 cm long, glabrous, umbel-like with 6-8 flowers. Peduncle with 2-3 sheaths, sheath cannular, 5-8 mm long. Floral bracts lanceolate, 3.0 by 0.8 mm, apex acuminate; pedicel and ovary 20-22 mm long; flowers widely open, yellowish-white. Dorsal sepal lanceolate, 20-21 by 3 mm, apex acuminate; lateral sepals lanceolate, 22-23 by 3 mm, apex acuminate. Petals triangular lanceolate, 13-14 by 2.0-2.3 mm, apex acuminate. Lip ligulate, 3.5 by 1.0 mm, base attached to end of column foot by an immobile joint, apex round. Column stout, ca. 2 mm long, column foot ca. 2.5 mm long. Anther cap galeiform; pollinia 2.
China. Yunnan : Pu’er, Jingdong, alt. 1 700 m, 21 DEC 2016, epiphytic on tree or rocks, wet valley in broad-leaved evergreen forests. LI Jianwu 4590 (HITBC!).
Distribution:China (Yunnan), Vietnam and Cambodia. Bulbophyllum pinicola was often spelled B. pinicolum (Gagnep. 1930; Aver. 2006), according to the International Code of Boanical Nomenclature (McNeill et al, 2012), we report it as B. pinicola here.
B. pinicola is similar to B. albidum (wight) Hook. f. (Gagnep. 1930), which is a synonym of B. acutiflorum A. Rich., but can be easily distinguished from the later by having sepals lanceolate and having acuminate apex (sepals triangular-lanceolate, apex of dorsal sepal acute in B. acutiflorum), petals triangular-lanceolate, apex acuminate (petals ovate, apex acute in B. acutiflorum), lip slightly excurvate (lip strongly arcuate in B. acutiflorum).
The Chinese name “無量山石豆兰 Wu Liang Shan Shi Dou Lan” is named after site where it was found, Wu Liang Mountain, a famous mountain at Pu’er City, China.
