Some Soviet physicists, concerned that the country is approaching the “chaos” of the economy, have conducted in-depth studies of the capital sources of capitalism and have thus found a way to revitalize the science of the Soviet Union by offering to rent themselves as commodities. Soviet theorists at the Kurchatov Institute claimed that they would make the same or better calculations in Moscow if they had a quarter to one-fifth Western research funding. As a result, they formed an independent research group consisting of 100-200% of physicists who received partial funding from the Soviet government who would expand the scope of their exchange with the West and commercially to anyone who needed help in the calculation of the problem open.
