Most human infectious diseases are closely related to the biofilm. Bacteria in the biofilm are 100-1000 times more resistant to antibiotics than the same bacterium in the planktonic state, resulting in some difficulties in the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases. More and more scholars focus on the comparative study of bacterial gene and protein expression in these two growth states, hoping to find a more effective target to disrupt the biofilm or inhibit the formation of biofilm. This review summarizes the progress of bacterial gene and protein expression during biofilm formation, the gene and protein expression of bacteria in mature biofilms, and the density sensing of bacteria in biofilms.
