西方文学受古代神话故事滋养几千年,从而诞生无数伟大的作家和作品。英美诗人艾略特作为二十世纪文学史上具有里程碑意义的大诗人,其诗歌的文化底蕴和内涵同样深受古代神话的润泽和哺育。其诗歌中经常出现男女人物的关系问题,男女和谐与否的思考在其作品中多有呈现。追其源头,从伊甸园的神话故事中,我们可以得到部分启示。本文以伊甸园神话故事为原型和依据,来分析艾略特诗歌中的男女关系,试图探讨使各种男女人物关系和谐与不和谐的渊源以及男女关系和谐平衡的出路。
Western literature is nourished by ancient myths for thousands of years, resulting in the birth of countless great writers and works. As a landmark poet in the history of twentieth-century literature, English and American poet Eliot has the same cultural background and connotation as the ancient mythology. The relationship between male and female characters often appears in his poems, and the reflection of the harmony between men and women is often found in his works. Pursuing its source, we can gain some enlightenment from the mythological story of Eden. This essay takes Eden Mythology as the prototype and basis to analyze the relationship between men and women in Eliot ’s poems, trying to find out the origin of harmony and disharmony between men and women and the harmonious balance between men and women.
