[World Nuclear News Web Site December 17, 2014] The U.S. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Corporation (SRNS) has started the process of spent cladding of aluminum-clad ferrites stored at the Savannah River Site. This work can take years. These spent fuel comes from domestic and foreign research reactors, the main components of which are uranium, aluminum, fission products and actinides and is currently being stored wet in the L Basin facility. In the future, these spent fuels will be chemically treated at H-Canyon chemical processing plants to separate uranium and perform these uranium
