《摩奴法典》(Manava-Dharma-Sastra,也有的译为《摩奴法论》)是婆罗门祭司根据吠陀经典、累世传承和古来习俗编成的教法典籍,是伦理、宗教、法律规范混合物,以诗歌体写成,约成于公元前二世纪至公元二世纪,是印度法制史上第一部较为正规的法律典籍,具有相当大的权威性。它较全面地论述了吠陀的精义,规定了以种姓制为核心的基本内容。现在保存下来的《摩奴法典》共有十二卷,2684节(颂,条)。每一卷的标题相继为“创造”、“净法、梵志期”、“婚姻、家长的义务”、“生计、戒律”、“斋戒和净法的规定、妇女的义务”、“林栖和苦行的义务”、“国王和武士种姓的行为”、“法官的任务、民法与刑法”、“民法与刑法、商人种姓和奴隶种姓的义务”、“杂种种姓、处困境时”、“苦行与赎罪”、“轮回、最后解脱”。<<
The Manava-Dharma-Sastra (also translated as “Manhu Dharma-Sastra”) is a typification of the teachings of the Brahmins based on the Vedas, the Hermit, and the ancient customs. It is an ethical, religious and legal code The mixture, written in poetic form, dates from the second century BC to the second century AD. It is the first more formal legal text in the history of Indian law and has considerable authority. It comprehensively expounds the essence of the Vedas and stipulates the basic content of caste system. There are now twelve volumes and two hundred and twenty-eight verses (Odeon, Article) in the present Manu-Cod. The titles of each volume are given in succession to the provisions of “Creation”, “Law of the Net,” “Marriage, obligations of parents,” “Livelihood, Commandments,” “Fasting and Net Law Women’s Obligations ”,“ Obligations of Lin Hsiu and Odyssey ”,“ Conduct of King and Samurai Caste ”,“ Judges’ Tasks, Civil Law and Criminal Law, ”“ Civil and Criminal Law, Merchant Caste and Slave caste obligations ”, “ Miscellaneous caste, when in distress ”, “ ascetic and atonement ”, “ reincarnation, the last liberation ”. <<
