在机械传动中常用键、销和叠接等来传递由轴到齿轮、滑轮等上的力矩。过盈配合也能用来传递力矩。并且费用较低,因为它免去了连接设计和键槽、销孔,叠接齿机械加工。采用过盈配合时,齿轮、棘轮的装配孔直径要比轴径小一些,因此可采用压入或热胀的方法套装在轴上。为了防止滑动,驱动轴和齿轮或棘轮之间的过盈量必须随着传递力矩的增加而增加。当过盈量大时,则装配件产生的内应力也大。从而有可能导致驱动结构的损坏。所以必须按照限定的应力小心地设计部件的几何尺寸和过盈量。

To prevent slippage, the amount of interference between the drive shaft and the gear or ratchet must increase as the torque transmitted increases. When the interference is large, then the internal stress generated by the assembly is also large. This may result in damage to the drive structure. Therefore, the geometry and interference of the components must be carefully designed according to the defined stress.
