瑚珊錫矿为坡积矿味,土岩的含石率很高,且礫石块度很大,第三采矿塌土岩含石率在30%以上,礫石最大块度在100公分左右。每班清理废石需要三十人以上,系人工挑运,其劳动强度非常大,而效率又低,其原因是因为当水槍冲击土岩时,土岩即行分离,小顆粒的泥砂均被冲击后的水流运走,而大顆粒的礫石,仃积在工作面内。随着冲击时間增長,仃积于工作面的礫石也随其增多,从而影响到水槍进行正規地掏槽及冲采。当水槍在工作面冲采适当时間之后,就应轉換工作面进行冲采,此工作面的廢石应作較彻底的清理。因为水槍在轉換工作向时,水槍效能將要在短时間之內受到影响,因而水榆轉換工作面也不应过于頻繁。
