Objective To detect the subsets of peripheral blood dendritic cells (DCs) in patients with condyloma acuminatum and to explore its significance. Methods The peripheral blood DC subsets (DC1 / CD11c + and DC2 / CD123 +) in 25 patients with condyloma acuminatum were detected by immunofluorescence triple-labeled flow cytometry. Twenty-six normal controls were used as controls. Results The percentage of CD123 + DC in peripheral blood of patients with condyloma acuminatum (0.63 ± 0.34)% was significantly higher than that of the control group (0.41 ± 0.17)% (P <0.01). CD123 + DC increased significantly in both long course group and relapsed patients (all P <0.01), while those in short course group and newly diagnosed group showed no significant change (all P> 0.05). The percentage of CD11c + DC in patients with condyloma acuminata (1.40% ± 0.44%) was not significantly different from that in control group (1.57% ± 0.78%) (P> 0.05). Conclusions The condyloma acuminatum has the predominance of DC2 subsets in peripheral blood, which leads to the shift of Th2-like immunoreaction, which may be related to the recurrence and duration of condyloma acuminatum.
