They’ve won their Oscars. Next up： avoiding[避免] the Oscar curse[诅咒].
More than one star has fallen prey[牺牲品] to the now-mythological[神话似的] Oscar jinx[不祥物]： If you’re handed an Oscar statuette[小雕像]， prepare to deal with some box-office duds[失败的人或事].
Just ask Halle Berry， who won for 2001’s Monster’s Ball， but followed it up with a decade of flops[失败]， the latest being Cloud Atlas. Or Adrian Brody， who won for 2002’s The Pianist， but has missed the mark[没达到目的] since.
Of all the winners this year， analysts[分析家] say， none face more scrutiny[仔细地观察] than Ben Affleck， whose film Argo won the best picture Oscar， and Daniel Day-Lewis， who claimed the best actor Award for Lincoln.
For Affleck， who also directed The Town and Gone Baby Gone， the pressure is on to keep up his winning streak[连胜] “of main-stream filmmaking that caters to[迎合] adults and still makes money，” says Katey Rich， executive[执行的] editor of film site Cinemablend.com. “Not many directors can claim that.”
Affleck has yet to announce his next directorial effort. He will star opposite Javier Bardem in the Terrence Malick drama To the Wonder， out April 12th.
Lewis knows what pressure is like， having won his third best actor Oscar.“He makes so few movies that when he does make one， we see it as an event，” says Jeremy Kay， U.S. editor for the trade publication[商业性出版物] Screen International. “Of course， he’s been selective[挑选的] for years， and won more （best actor） Oscars than anyone. It’s natural to expect big things.”
Lewis， who makes a movie once every three years or so， has not announced his next project.
