In today’s Chinese teaching system of Chinese character painting, students accumulate a wealth of techniques and material experiences before teachers will pay attention to the cultivation of students’ creative ability. The side effects are mainly reflected in the class of meticulous figure gradually moving toward the delicate techniques and skilled use of materials, which can easily lead to students’ stereotyped works, difficult to break the embarrassing situation. Because creation itself is a very personal activity, the open imagination and personalization it requires precisely run counter to the traditional teaching model of our Chinese character figure. Every teacher who is engaged in the teaching of traditional Chinese painting in colleges and universities should think about this proposition: How to cultivate students with strong sense of creation, how can we not only throw away the traditional foundation left by our ancestors, but also stimulate students’ creative thinking?
