本文以多丽丝·莱辛的自传《切肤之旅》(Under My Skin)为基础,分析了英帝国在殖民过程中,进行的文化入侵。非洲关于植物、动物的用语,为英语所吸纳,体现出文化的渗透与融合性。英语作为母语或第二语言在非洲的使用,证明了符号互动理论:洋泾浜式、南非式英语的符号输入,被统治者赋予反过来控制非洲当地人的某种意义。殖民者对非洲黑人的称谓,是压迫与剥削思想的内化。殖民地的教育与教化机构,学校和修道院,让非洲受众从思想上形成某种思维模式,以便为统治者利用。但当信息来源、教育媒介遭到质疑时,受众会采用相应的方法去反抗。
Based on the autobiography of Under My Skin by Doris Lessing, this article analyzes the cultural invasion conducted by the British Empire in the process of colonization. The language of plants and animals in Africa is absorbed by English and reflects the infiltration and integration of culture. The use of English as a first language or a second language in Africa proves the theory of symbolic interaction: the input of symbols in Pinyin-style and South African-style English, which is conferred by the rulers to control, in turn, the significance of locals in Africa. The appellation of the colonizers to black Africans is the internalization of oppression and exploitation. Colonial educational and enlightenment institutions, schools and monasteries allow African audiences to mentally form a pattern of thinking that they can use for their rulers. However, when sources of information and educational media are challenged, the audience adopts the corresponding method to resist.
