As early as the 19th century, zinc was found in living organisms. In 1869, Raulin first discovered that zinc is necessary for the growth of Aspergillus aspergillus, and later found that the growth of animals also needs zinc. However, human diseases caused by zinc deficiency were not reported until 1960. For more than 10 years, the role of trace elements (including zinc) on biological tissues has drawn wide attention. It has been confirmed that mammalian eye tissue zinc content is relatively high, but also with the physiological function of visual pathways are closely related. Clinical manifestations of low zinc syndrome, and the application of trace element zinc preparations for the treatment of certain diseases have begun to be more and more people’s attention.
