The authors have reported that the root of Angelica gigas has a cytotoxic effect. For this purpose, a further study was conducted on large independent plants. The effective components were isolated from their roots, and the active ingredient was identified as decursin by structural analysis. The cytotoxicity of prosurcin on various human cancer cell lines and the activation of protein kinase (PKC) in vitro were also elucidated.
