Today,the music talent show emerges one after another,from the Voice of China,Chinese Idol,to Asian Wave,which are really dazzling and overwhelming for the audience.Increasing number of music programs come into view,which enables many musical works and musicians to be known and recognized by the public.Large number of talents and the support from the media has lead popular music to another peak,with music works frequently updating.In contrast,the education world seems to be indifferent,even repellent to the prosperous development of popular music.They still stay in a relatively closed environment,leaving behind the trend.This may result from Chinas examination-oriented education and guidance from parents and teachers.In traditional concept of the Chinese people,music is belittled and considered to be a form of entertainment and pastime,which does not to be studied for a long time.Whats more,people do not want to engage in industries related to music.This paper explores the necessity and measures,and analyzes the significance to introduce popular music in high school music education.
