In August 2007, the Karolinska Institutes of Medicine in Sweden announced the award of this year’s Nobel Prize in Physiology / Medicine to Americans Mario R, Capecchi; Olive Smithies and Briton Martin Mastin J. Evan commended them for inventing “gene targeting” technology in stem cell research. The so-called “gene targeting” technique is a technique that disables some of the “inactivated” genes in experimental mice, thereby revealing the actual function of these genes. At present, “gene targeting” technology has been scientists in-depth study of heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and anti-aging, to explore the development of human pathogenesis from molecular biology and explore a broad new treatment. Scientists expect the discovery of this technology will continue to seek greater happiness for mankind. They have been engaged in this research for more than 20 years and have experimented up to more than 10,000 times. Up to now, the highest age among them is 82 years old. After receiving the prize, it hopes to receive more funds to continue the research. Really spared no efforts to fight for human health for life, its spirit enough admirable.
