16240柴油机的机体,为了尽可能缩小外形尺寸,及提高机体的强度和刚度,因此采用铸焊组合结构。焊接的重要板料均采用16Mn低合金高强度钢板,相互之间的结构是很紧凑的,有效空间是狭小的。机体的凸轮轴孔的横向断面见图1。但整个机体在4600毫米长度内有12个φ140毫米凸轮轴孔,在两个凸轮轴孔之间有高度为190毫米观察孔,要加工12个φ140毫米的凸轮轴孔,必须制造专用镗模,伸到观察孔的孔间,然后将镗杆伸到镗模中,由动力头带动镗杆进行切削加工。
