Objective: To investigate the effect of tonsil size on the efficacy of UPPP in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Methods: Retrospective analysis of 54 cases of OSAHS patients who underwent UPPP surgery in our department. After more than one year, PSG was reviewed to determine the effect. Results: There were no significant differences in the mean preoperative indexes (age, AHI, BMI, lowest SpO2) among different tonsil groups (P> 0.05), but there were statistically significant differences between the tonsil groups Significance; the lowest SpO2 in patients with Ⅲ degree tonsil significantly increased; in severe OSAHS, there was significant difference in the size of tonsils between different efficacy groups. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with large tonsils have a higher operative rate and a significantly lower minimum SpO2. Different treatment measures should be taken according to individual differences in patients with severe OSAHS.
