口语崇拜是一种与写实主义、个性主义、大众化等思潮相互呼应的现代文学观念,它的产生与西方的语音中心主义语言观对中国的影响有关。由于五四新文学的领导者及以后的理论家主要以语言变革的逻辑为其口语崇拜主张立论,当现代语言变革特别是“汉字革命”的合理性受到质疑时,文学中的口语崇拜观念便面临理论危机。口语崇拜观念还面对着从文学自身出发而产生的质疑,这种质疑的声音在现代文学史上虽不是时代最强音,但却切中要害。
