Objective To investigate the relationship between tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and angiogenesis and lymph node metastasis in oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to observe the macrophage invasion and angiogenesis. Results The numbers of macrophages and microvessel counts in lymph node metastasis group were significantly higher than those in non-metastasis group (P <0.05). With the increase of pathological grade, the invasion of macrophages increased (P <0.05) But not statistically significant (P> 0.05). Conclusions This study shows that TAMs may play an important role in lymph node metastasis in oral squamous cell carcinoma.
