我国交通行业唯一的国家重点实验室——牵引动力实验室于1995年11月2日在西南交通大学通过国家级验收。这标志着我国在机车车辆基础理论研究与大型试验技术方面已跨入国际先进行列。 牵引动力实验室于1989年经国家计委正式批准为国家重点实验室建设项目,是全国投资规模最大的国家重点实验室之一。其主要特点是建有一个滚动、振动相结合的整车模拟实验台。机车车辆可以在台上模拟运行中的滚动与振动,可进行速度为400km/h以内的运行试验。这种试验台,目前世界上只有2台,另一台在德国。实验室以轮轨相互作用的研究为基础,以铁路扩能、提高服务质量和保证安全为目标,着重研究铁路高速技术、重载技术、新型机车车辆和牵引自
