At the end of 1994, in a mysterious “underground palace” in a mountainous area of China, China’s strategic missile force carried out an unusual practice of ex-situ exercise under nuclear-actual combat conditions. They won. Hundreds of officers and soldiers not only survived safely in fully enclosed tunnels but also implemented “nuclear counterattacks” against the “enemy” in a lightning-fast manner. The success of this exercise marks a historic leap forward for the strategic viability of China’s strategic missile force under the condition of nuclear war has reached a new level. This is a practice field, perhaps the future “battlefield.”
