Cone crusher and vertical impact (VSI) crusher were used in the closed circuit to compare the crushing effect of these two different crushing plants. The final screen size broken by the crusher in the closed loop is 9 mm. Production volume, particle size reduction and energy consumption comparison results show that, VSI crusher energy utilization rate is much higher than the cone crusher, and the product size is also finer. Compared to cone crushers, VSI crushed products have a content of less than 1 mm of 65% and lower energy consumption. Evaluate the benefits of the crusher to provide finer material for grinding based on the energy measure chosen. The method shows that VSI crushers save 2% to 14% of energy on grinding, depending on the energy model used and the particle size of the final product. This assessment is in line with the savings of 11.8% when crushing iron ore with a VSI crusher prior to grinding.
