Ventricular remodeling is a process of cardiac remodeling that results from changes in gene expression of cardiomyocytes, non-cardiomyocytes, and extracellular matrix that lead to structural remodeling of the heart’s structure, metabolism, and function that eventually can lead to arrhythmia and heart failure, and even sudden cardiac death happened. In recent years, it has been found that macrophages in inflammatory cells can clear necrotic cells in infarcted lesions, secrete cytokines, promote angiogenesis and collagen deposition, thereby regulating the pathological process of ventricular remodeling. This article elucidates the relevant role of macrophages in ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction, providing a reference for the treatment and application of myocardial repair.
