British romantic poet Samuel Coleridge and American postmodernist William Gargas, although living in different historical periods, all focus on the theoretical discussion of creation. They all pay close attention to the connection between the daily language and the literary language, and are highly praised for the poetic language function. However, they have an essentially different understanding of the relationship between everyday language and literary language. That is, Coleridge’s rule through poetry aims at bringing the reader to the most profound truth. The creation of language novels shifts the reader from the illusion of “the most profound truth” to the reality of “the most fictional text.”
