The detection and classification of buried objects can be used in such fields as mine hunting, pipeline exploration and archeological research, but it is still an unsolved problem. There are two existing solutions, one is confirmed high-frequency and intermediate frequency sonar, synthetic aperture processing; the other is the use of non-linear effects of underwater acoustic transmission, from a higher frequency source to generate low-frequency signals. Both of these methods are currently being investigated by the French Navy’s Mine Warfare Research Institute and other laboratories. This paper presents some experimental results obtained in the past two years and presents novelty of sonar data acquisition and three-dimensional acoustic imaging principle.
