在油田开采过程中部分采用电潜泵推举方式采油,目前电潜泵通常采用变频器进行驱动,电潜泵使用变频器驱动后给油田生产带来了许许多多的利益,诸如电潜泵启动平稳、调产调参方便、节省电能、保护电泵、延长检泵周期、减小作业费用,有效提高产量、灵活地对电泵进行控制等,已经成为现代化采油平台生产中不可或缺的设备。但是,变频器带来种种利益的同时,也带来了许多烦恼,变频器产生的谐波成分给电机带来的伤害是致命的。如:电机绝缘的降低、电机轴承的损坏、电机电缆的击穿等。因此为了保证电机电缆不被击穿,电机绝缘不被损坏,在变频器输出端都增加了正弦波滤波器。
