当前戏剧艺术似乎处于守势。大家都在谈论它的危机和思考振兴的措施。一些程式化程度比较严的古老剧种困难较大,而另外一些民族民间色彩较浓,适应性较强而又得到观众偏爱的剧种,所受的威胁则较小,他们似乎还处在发展、上升时期。以黄梅戏为例,她的声腔艺术不仅已经打入流行歌曲之中,而且黄梅戏剧团也在全国范围内有所增加。因此,任何一种艺术形式的兴衰,不可简单地归结为产生于封建社会或是资本主义社会,其决定的因素在于这种艺术形式本身能否跟上时代的步伐,能否反映当代人民所关心的带有普遍性而又有典型意义的问题。
