公共关系的目标任务是为某个人或某个组织树立良好的社会形象和公众信誉。用某专家的话来说, “公共关系是一种技术,此种技术在于激发大众对于任何一个人或一个组织的了解而对之产生信任”。公共关系不同于其他社会关系如经济关系、法律关系、伦理关系,有着自己鲜明的本质特征,即公共关系过程是(个人或组织主体与公众客体之间的)一种信息传播活动和信息交流过程。所以研究公共关系不能不研究传播问题,不能不研究传播媒介问题。
The goal of public relations is to establish a good social image and public credit for a person or an organization. In the words of one expert, “Public relations is a technology that generates trust in the public by stimulating the public’s knowledge of any one person or organization.” Public relations is different from other social relations such as economic relations, legal relations, ethical relations, has its own distinct essential characteristics, that is, the process of public relations (individual or organizational subject and the public object) a kind of information dissemination activities and information exchange process . Therefore, the study of public relations can not but study the issue of communication, can not but study the issue of media.
