Objective To understand mental health and its influencing factors of power workers in field work in Jilin Province and provide references for the corresponding interventions. Methods From January to June in 2016, a random cluster sampling method was used to survey 872 field work electricians in 23 teams in the electric power line construction team owned by Jilin Power Company. Results Among the 872 field work electricians in Jilin Province, 270 (30.96%) had mental problems and 602 (69.04%) had mental health problems. Somatic self-assessment scale (SCL-90) (1.59 ± 0.54), (1.81 ± 0.51), (1.64 ± 0.48) and (1.59 ± 0.47), respectively, and the total scores of symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, terror, paranoid, psychotic factors and mental health were (1.51 ± 0.51), (1.57 ± 0.49), (1.41 ± 0.53), (1.57 ± 0.53), (1.47 ± 0.49) and (142.85 ± 37.62), respectively. Except for the interpersonal sensitivity factor, The scores of occupational stress, job coping and job satisfaction in Meclean’s stress questionnaire were (32.37 ± 6.06), (55.16 ± 7.23) and (31.28 ± 7.04), mental health group scores in three dimensions were lower than those in mental health group (all P <0.001). Multivariate linear stepwise regression analysis showed that monthly average income was lower, smoking, history of injury and job satisfaction The lower the field work electricians, the worse their mental health status. Conclusion The power workers in field work in Jilin Province have poor mental health status. The monthly average income, whether smoking, the history of work-related injuries and the sense of job satisfaction are the main factors affecting the mental health status of field work electric workers.
