Objective To establish a three-dimensional reconstruction of craniofacial CT computer image measurement and analysis methods and explore its accuracy and reliability. Methods The three-dimensional craniofacial surgery diagnosis and operation design system was established by means of computer graphics and imaging techniques. The stereoscopic structures of cranial-orbital-zygomatic region in seven intact and dried craniocerebral specimens were studied using the built-in systematic method and anthropological measurement method. Measurement and analysis, and the two measurement methods and their results were compared and the results of statistical analysis. Results The CT image measurement method was not only able to measure the plane distance and angle but also measure the line spacing between different planes and the area and volume of the specific anatomical structure in the three-dimensional space. The results of the two measurement methods showed good convergence consistency . The accuracy and precision of three-dimensional CT measurement and analysis method were high. The average error of the measurement items of line distance was only 1.12 mm (3.14%) at the maximum, and the average errors of measurement data of angle, area and volume were 0.94 ° (2.04% ), 0.56 cm2 (4.48%) and 0.92 cm3 (3.32%). Conclusion Three-dimensional CT images can truly reflect the three-dimensional anatomy of craniofacial anatomy. Three-dimensional computed tomography can accurately point out the three-dimensional features of craniofacial anatomy and can be used as an objective research method for craniofacial plastic surgery and medical aesthetics
