戴复东安徽省无为县人,1928年出生于广州市。1952年毕业于南京大学(前身为中央大学,现东南大学)建筑系。是中国工程院院士,教授、博士生导师、建筑学与建筑设计专家、同济大学建筑与城市规划学院名誉院长、国家一级注册建筑师、同济大学高新建筑技术设计研究所所长,兼上海市建设交通委员会科学技术委员会副主任、同济大学艺术中心主任、上海建筑师与建材企业家联谊会会长,获政府特殊津贴。曾于1983年6月～1984年10月,赴美国纽约哥伦比亚大学建筑与规划研究院作访问学者。
Dai Fundong Anhui Province Wuwei County, born in 1928 in Guangzhou City. 1952 graduated from Nanjing University (formerly Central University, now Southeast University) Department of architecture. He is an academician of China Academy of Engineering, a professor and doctoral supervisor, an architecture and architectural design expert, an honorary dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University, a national registered architect, and a director of the High-tech Architectural Design Institute of Tongji University. Deputy director of the Commission of Science and Technology of the Construction and Transportation Commission, director of the art center of Tongji University, president of Shanghai Architect and Building Materials Entrepreneurs Association, and received special government allowance. From June 1983 to October 1984, he was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Architecture and Planning, Columbia University, New York, USA.
