Objective To explore the value of B-guided MST technology and traditional PICC catheterization in cancer patients. Methods Twenty-two patients with oncology from Jan. 25, 2013 to Dec. 30, 2015 were divided into experimental group and control group according to their PICC catheterization methods. In the experimental group, 120 patients underwent PICC catheterization by MST under the guidance of B-mode ultrasound and 80 patients in the control group received PICC catheterization according to the traditional method. The PICC catheterization effect was compared between the two groups. Results The success rate of primary catheterization and arm comfort in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group. The local tissue injury, mechanical phlebitis and puncture point contamination rate were significantly lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Tumor patients undergoing B-guided MST with PICC catheterization can improve the success rate of puncture and reduce the incidence of complications.
