Jane Austen is a woman writer remembered for the world by describing the theme of love, considered superficial by some critics. Her period of transition from romanticism to realism is characterized by her simple life experience and delicate writing, which shows her readers the vivid rural life of England in the 18th century. Although she did not receive formal education in her life, her style of writing is well-tolerated. The purpose of this article is to explore the narrative techniques and the expression and appeal of Jane Austen through the analysis of the narrative perspectives and the functions of characters by taking Pride and Prejudice as an example.
