辜鸿铭（1857－1928），名汤生，福建同安人。早年留学西洋十载，回国后人张之洞幕府长期负责外交礼宾工作。曾官至外务部郎中，晚年为北京大学教授。辜氏是中国近代著名的文化保守派人物，一生致力于捍卫中华民族的尊严、维护和向西方传播中国儒家文化，在西方世界颇有影响。1
