The 2006 International Children’s Day and Children’s Articles Expo Jinan, China jointly sponsored by the CPAFFC, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the National Children’s Work Committee, the China Association of Youth Palaces and the Jinan Municipal People’s Government, with the theme of Joyful Childhood under the Same Sky was held in Jinan, Shandong Province from July 7 to 9, 2006.Jiang Daming, deputy secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the CPC and secretary of the Jinan Municipal Committee of the CPC，declared the opening of the Children’s Day and participated in the evening party Night at the City of Springs. Luo Qin, secretary general of the CPAFFC, and Yang Yue, executive secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and chairman of the National Children’s Work Committee, attended the opening ceremony.
Over 200 children of 16 delegations from 15 countries and regions including Germany, Finland, Russia, Australia, the United States, Japan, Ukraine, India, the Republic of Korea, Belarus, Indonesia and Hong Kong took part in the 6-day happy tour of Jinan and Beijing. The children of various countries learnt Chinese folk art crafts, planted trees of friendship, built a wall with the impressions of their hands, appreciated Chinese calligraphy, watched martial arts, Peking Opera and tea ceremony, and flew kites together. At the evening party they gave various forms of performances with different national features. The children of various countries enthusiastically took part in these interesting activities with rich contents and deep meaning, experiencing the profound traditional culture of the Chinese nation. In the activity of Water ·Globe, the children from various places of the world poured the water taken from the mother rivers of their own countries into the sculpture Water ·Globe and issued the Declaration on Saving Water, calling on people to treasure every drop of water on the earth, and protect our common homeland. Though only a few days, they stayed together from morning to night and seeds of friendship were sown in the children’s hearts.
