作物优良性状的鉴别与选择,是作物育种的基本功。不善于识别作物的优良性状或类型,就无从把它们培育成为新的优良品种。生物的各种性状是以基因的作用通过外界环境条件而表现出来的。环境条件的变化会引起性状在一定范围内变化。而基因的作用又并非机械地、孤立地只作用于某一性状,它可以产生一连串的多方面的效应。因此,这就要求人们对于性状的识别和选择作更为深入的研究。新方法新技术固然有助于对各种性状的识别,但重要的还是要不断地深入调查研究和辩证分析,才能对各种性状之间的内在联系和外部表现取得正确的认识,从而才能使各种新方法新技术发挥更大的作用。
