Electric equipment efficiency, energy efficiency, single power output and availability are high. This leads to higher productivity and lower costs for electric equipment than diesel or pneumatic equipment. While stand-alone costs should be considered, the most important thing is the total system cost, including energy costs and mine ventilation costs. With the solution of practical techniques for specific processes, such as the advent of electro-hydraulic rock drilling and electric scrapers, underground mines are gradually adopting electric production equipment. This article describes the technological developments in the use of electric equipment for mines throughout Blyden Minerals. Electrification can lead to automated, robotic and continuous systems, with beneficial effects on repair and maintenance.
