器物之喻是中国书法批评的一种独特表述方式。首先,以工匠制器喻书法艺术,实现了器物制作与书法创作之间在技艺和规范方面的会通;其次,器物之喻赋予书法以伦理教化意味,阐明书法作品应具有器物般庄重、典雅的风格。在起源上,器物之喻受到了《周易》“近取诸身、远取诸物”思维方式的影响。器物之喻意味着书法不仅是表述的工具,而且是展现天地精神的人文符号;书法不仅是抒情的,而且是技艺的;书法不仅模仿天地万物,而且也模仿文物制度。总之,器物之喻作为书法批评的独特表述方式,沟通了器物制作、器物形态和器物功能与书法创作、书法形态和书法功能之间的关系。
