Objective To investigate whether the current occupational protection measures are safe and effective through follow-up investigation of medical workers who have been exposed for occupational exposure in the past seven years in Ditan Hospital so as to provide all-round and better protection for clinical medical staff. Methods A prospective monitoring method was used to analyze the characteristics and prognosis of medical staff occupational exposure from April 2005 to December 2011 in this hospital. Results In the past seven years, there were 272 occupational exposures among medical staff in the hospital, accounting for 70.59% of the total number of nurses under 30 years of age; 76.1% (207/272) of acupuncture injuries; the injured parts were mainly fingers (220 cases, 80.9%), followed by the eyes (39 cases, 14.3%); occupational exposure to HIV showed an upward trend year by year. For individuals with hepatitis B virus (HBV) occupational exposure to anti-hepatitis B virus surface antigen antibody (anti-HBs) positive, it is safe and feasible to do nothing after exposure. Conclusion The current occupational exposure protection measures are safe and effective and can be further improved on the existing basis.
