Biography
Dohmoto Koichi formed the KinKi Kids together with Dohmoto Tsuyoshi. Though both share the same family name, they are not brothers. Koichi has starred alongside Tsuyoshi in severalpopulardramas.
堂本光一与堂本光共同组建了近畿小子。虽然二人姓氏相同，却不是亲兄弟。光一曾与光共同主演了几部受人欢迎的电视剧。
At the age of 12, Koichi joined Johnny & Associates, one of Japan's most famous talent agencies (they produce most of Japan's No.1 male idol groups including SMAP, V6 and Arashi). His sister is partly responsible for this as she was the one to send his profile to Johnny's (she was a huge fan of Johnny's longest-lived group).

At the beginning, he appeared in various TV dramas and performed as a back dancer for groups like SMAP along with other Johnny's Juniors. One of them wasDomoto Tsuyoshi with whom he formed the groupKinKi Kids in 1993, this name was changed to KinKi Kids for their official debut in 1997 (KinKi being taken from the japanese area Kinki were both of them come from).

On July 21st,1997 KinKi Kids officially debuted with thesingleGlass no Shounen which hit number 1 instantly. Ever since then, all of their singles have been number 1 hits which has gained them an entry in the Guiness Book of Records for the most consecutive number 1 singles.
近畿小子 在1997年7月21日正式发行专辑《硝子の少年》，便立即名列榜首。从此以后他们的所有专辑都高居榜首不下，为此他们还被载入到单曲排名第一持续时间最长的吉尼斯世界纪录中。
Since 2000, Koichi has been the leading character in themusical SHOCKwhich is performed in the Imperial Garden Theater of Tokyo in January/February of every year. 2007 will most likely be his last appearance in this musical though.
从2000年起，光一便在音乐剧SHOCK中饰演主要角色。每年的1月或 2月都会在日本帝国花园剧场上演此剧。但2007年可能是他在该剧中的最后一次亮相了。
In 2004 Koichi held his first solo tour where he mainly performed songs from the SHOCK musicals as well as his solos from KinKi Kids as well as some own tracks.
