After more than a year of intense and careful preparation, China Eastern Airlines officially began its operation on May 8, 1992 and successfully completed the inspection of three MD-82 aircraft at the shortest domestic construction schedule. The MD-82 Aircraft D-Check is an inspection of the critical structural projects (SST) performed after 1500 hours of flight for this aircraft and is the highest level of maintenance program. In the past, this type of aircraft D seized by the Swiss airline. Each D-only labor costs as high as 1.45 million US dollars, but also to pay customs duties 1.8 million yuan. By combining Western aviation technology and management methods with China’s national conditions and establishing an effective national inspection and maintenance technology and management system, a new road of technological cooperation between China and foreign countries and the development of national aviation maintenance services is marked, signifying that “China Eastern Airlines” Aircraft maintenance has reached a new level. At present, the company achieved the D-seized on the basis of success, to re-adjust their ideas and step up all types of personnel a deeper level of technical training to further improve the D-check the entire process of the overall management. Since the second half of 1993, the inspection period of aircraft D has been reduced by one week, from 1994 onwards by two weeks, and preparations for C-check of Airbus aircraft will be started. D-type aircraft will be completed as soon as possible. After another 2 to 3 years to declare the FAA “FAA” repair license, since the formal undertaking of foreign aircraft repair business, to participate in international competition.
