二零零四年十月下旬,笔者带领三十余名西安美术学院雕塑系的学生在山西双林寺进行了半个月的临摹,在考察期间一次吃中午饭的时候,我们发现一个正在吃饭的老乡的形象与寺里的一尊塑像出奇的相象,这个意外的“发现”使我们当时正在考察的师生对于双林寺里雕塑的形象风格特点产生了极大的兴趣。首先从“双林寺”的历史背景看,它位于平遥古城西南六公里的桥头村,原名“中都寺”,宋时改名为“双林寺”,缘由纪念佛祖释
In late October 2004, the author led more than 30 students from the Sculpture Department of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts to conduct a half-moon copy in Shanxi’s Shuanglin Temple.
