三、高合金钢稀土对高合金钢的有利影响是众所周知的。对种种不锈钢热加工性能的改善已不再限于铸件。除了改善延性和强度之外,稀土添加剂提高高合金钢在高温下抗氧化性及氧化皮形成的阻力。据某些生产者报导,用稀土处理后改善表面质量的结果,可以减少20%清理钢锭的劳动量,每年可以增加产量1%。从某种意义上讲,在某些特殊不锈钢中,稀土添加剂可以代替部分的镍,仍能保持同样的性能。象低合金钢一样,稀土在高合金钢中的作用和稀土的加入量、加入方法以及使用的稀土元素都是密切相关的。
