Since the new century, Asia has become the main engine of global energy demand growth. It is estimated that energy consumption in Asia-Pacific region will account for 45% and 45.3% of the global total in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Due to historical reasons, Asia lacks sufficient voice and influence over the formation and formulation of international oil and gas prices. The lack of pricing power has led to a premium in Asia, especially in Asia where LNG prices are much higher than in other regions, and Asian consumers have long been burdened with an unreasonable import of energy. Therefore, it is urgent for Asia to set up an oil and gas trading market similar to the oil and gas trading centers in Europe and the United States, which represent the Asian market and have the international voice and influence.
